Unravel the Mystique Femme Mystique™ by Christine Lucas New York City has a need for something different in the live music scene. Since the inception of my band about a year ago, I have played numerous events and venues in New York. I am an electro-acoustic pop solo artist, Christine Lucas, with a full eight pieces backing me. I love to put on fabulous shows and really take it over the top. I enjoy putting on this caliber of show so much that I was determined to find a way to keep performing in these kinds of productions and to build a night featuring artists in a similar genre. The problem that I’ve found with many New York City venues is they book band after band with no connection, going from one style of music to another. Both my desire to produce visually stunning shows and to share an evening with other original live musical acts like myself, inspired my show, Femme Mystique™. Femme Mystique™ is a new style of live music showcase with performances by some of New York’s hottest female recording artists. Beautiful and talented women perform their original music in a striking setting. Femme Mystique™ is an elaborate show featuring dynamic female singers and their bands performing some of the best signed and unsigned music on the scene. I founded Femme Mystique™ just this past January. I have united talented female singer/ songwriters with an inspiring message and great music. I’ve seen some very talented women struggling to make it in the ultra competitive music scene. I feel that working together we have the power to touch a chord in the music industry by providing a unique forum for record labels to scout new talent, and even to showcase their own new talent. It’s also a great place for music fans to catch an up and comer. Besides there are few things in life as beautiful as watching a woman sing her heart out passionately on stage. Femme Mystique™ was held Wednesday, April 9th at the Triad Theater on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The unique décor and illustrious feel that I bring to the theater enhance the audience’s experience. The artists/ bands that performed were the powerful, dynamic and unforgettable vocal talent, Faith Trent (www.faithtrent.com) of Tommy Boy Records, myself, Christine Lucas (www.christinelucas.com) creating the perfect balance between electronic and acoustic music, Swedish singing sensation, Åsa Rydman of Åsa’s Garden (www.asarydman.com) and san (www.sanmusic.net) with their deep ambient grooves and ethereal vocals. At the tender age of fifteen, Faith Trent has accomplished what many artists hope to do in a lifetime. She has starred in a Broadway musical at 8, recorded her first album at only 10, developed her own cabaret in New York at 12,  became the youngest to win Amateur Night twice on TV's It's Showtime at the Apollo, and at 13 became the youngest female to peak the highest on Billboard's Dance Club Play Charts.  Currently, she is in the process of co-writing material for her debut album on Tommy Boy Records. Faith's vision is to utilize her gift of music to help others in any way she can. Åsa Rydman’s new independently released CD "Seeds of love" displays her original, creative and sensual songwriting. Her music is melodic, warm and mystic with a Nordic touch. Her philosophical and diary-like lyrics are perfectly married to her music, which blends melodic pop/rock with a touch of jazz, electronica and folk music. Åsa's music has been compared to Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Kate Bush and Dido. Åsa Rydman's songs are so heartfelt that one cannot help but be drawn into her world. The name Åsa is pronounced "awsa" and means goddess in Swedish. San is a NYC-based pop/electronica group which creates a mélange of sounds mixing ethereal melodies and eclectic beats.  Singer Toni Wang's smooth and sultry vocals, often compared to Sade, float atop the genre-bending rhythms of her fellow artists, Paolo Mendoza (drum machines/synths, bass) and Christian Jimenez (turntables, keyboards).  san soothes the soul and inspires all its listeners with a palette of breathtaking music and simple yet provocative lyrics.  san (pronounced 'sahn') means '3' in Chinese/Japanese, while the number '3' symbolizes all things spiritual. Not only am I the event’s producer, but I am also one of the artists performing. Aside from my need to create exciting and entertaining shows my mission runs much deeper. Ever since I was a very little girl I have had the ability to inspire and uplift one’s spirit. When I realized my talent as a vocalist, I knew that God had given me gifts so that I could reach people on many levels. My music is spiritual and energetic. When people listen to my music they are touched and inspired by my message of love. I am also independently releasing a CD entitled "Surrender" this April. Femme Mystique™ will be my unofficial CD release party. Femme Mystique™ will run every two months featuring various female songstresses, signed and unsigned, along with a different visual theme for every show. My goal is to develop Femme Mystique™ into a national tour.
